The first Sizzled event of the 2017-18 festive season emphasised why this proudly Cape Town event is something special.
The recent heavy winds have caused havoc in the Mother City, especially for outdoor events in and around Cape Town. Corona Sunsets Festival was forced to be cancelled last Saturday due to the 40km-plus wind speeds, while many other events suffered similar consequences or were heavily affected.
Sizzled faced their toughest challenge when they were hit with gale force winds during their first event of the 2017-18 festive season on 26 November.
However, the hectic conditions brought out something special on the day.
Yes, the event was affected by Mother Nature’s bad mood, causing a delay on entry and making it uncomfortable at certain parts – but the crowd stayed strong through the conditions and enjoyed the amazing line-up the organisers served on stage.
Instead of leaving in masses, hundreds of people stood strong in the centre square and partied through the night. Watch below.
This empahsised what this event means to locals…
Sizzled is a proudly Cape Town event that has grown from humble beginnings of a handful of patrons at AmaDoda in Woodstock to hosting big crowds at the Good Hope Castle.
It boasts an awesome vibe among the crowd, motivated by the music delivered on stage.
While the event has hosted some major headline acts – from Monique Bingham to Jazzuelle – Sizzled has created a stage for Cape Town acts to show off their talents.
From YoungstaCPT to Patty Monroe to Dope Saint Jude to a wide range of DJs.
And Cape Town is set to stand proud again as Sizzled announced an amazing line-up for Boxing Day.
Headline acts include Glen ‘Glenzito’ Lewis, Fistaz Mixwell, Ryan The DJ, SuperFly and Das Kapital.
There will be plenty of Cape Town flavour as Rude World Records has a takeover with AliThatDude, Hunter Rose, Sipho The Gift, Maloon The Boom and Dark Swano, while the northern suburbs will be represented by emerging talent Mono Joe and Hailo.
There’s also a special appreciation for 90s Hip Hop with the Hip Hop Hooray group.
The Sizzled stage is sure to entertain the masses expected at the Good Hope Castle on Boxing Day on Tuesday. And there will be plenty of delicious food on the menu for those who come hungry.
Come rain, wind or shine, the Sizzled crowd will party long into the night… join the party!
